Here are some of the bare-bone facts about SIG SAUER Academy's experienced and dedicated instructors.



Scott has over 29 years of law enforcement experience, including 17 years as a member of SWAT, and served in the United States Marine Corps as an intelligence analyst. Scott has taught internationally for elite military Units and Domestically for Federal, State and Local Agencies. He was the lead instructor for the New Hampshire Tactical Officers SWAT School and is a certified instructor for law enforcement, firearms, and tactical training at the SIG SAUER Academy in Epping, New Hampshire. He is an active member of several professional organizations dedicated to ensuring professional firearms training including the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Scott is a founding member of Firearm Trainers Association.



Jim comes to the Sig Sauer Academy after retiring from a large State law enforcement agency. During his career, he served as general duty road Trooper, Detective and held several different supervisory positions. He also served as a member of the Technical Emergency and Mission Specialist Unit responsible for tactical operations, underwater search and recovery and high angle rescue. During this full-time assignment, he participated in hundreds of tactical operations and other mission specific details. After a stint on the T.E.A.M.S Unit, Jim spent several years assigned to Anti-Crime Unit targeting street-level violent crime and drug crime as part of a multi-jurisdictional task force in Camden City, NJ. Jim brings a wealth of experience involving general patrol, street-level narcotics operations and quality of life issues, which are often associated with police operations within inner cities. Jim was extensively involved with various aspects of the firearms program within his organization throughout his career and served as a firearms instructor, armorer and he was a member of the department’s weapons and tactics committee for several years. He holds several police-related specialty certifications, as well as multiple firearms instructor certifications and is an armorer with several different firearms platforms. Jim is a former US Marine and an active member of professional organizations such as the F.B.I. National Academy Association (FBINAA), the Former Troopers Association and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Additionally, he is an accomplished Master Class competitive shooter and a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association, the United States Practical Shooting Association and GSSF.



Doug Flavin retired as a Sergeant from the MA State Police after 25 years of service. He spent 19 of those years on the Department Tactical Team, serving in various roles including sniper, sniper section leader, armorer, and Team Leader. Doug also retired from the Army National Guard as a Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. He began his career as an MP and deployed as part of Desert Shield/Storm. His last 10 years he was assigned as the NCOIC of small arms readiness and marksmanship training for the MA ARNG. Doug enjoys competing in USPSA and is a life member of the NRA.



Todd Moriarty has been in Law Enforcement since 1995 and has worked for a small community, as well as larger city, throughout his career. Todd’s career has been primarily in uniform patrol, to include K-9 and SWAT. He was an assistant team leader of his former department’s Special Reaction Team. Todd also worked one of the first SWAT dogs in the area with his K-9 Rony. Todd moved from Patrol to his department’s Firearms training (FTU). FTU members had to be certified to instruct all levels of use of force to include: defensive tactics, handgun, rifle, shotgun, patrol tactics and SWAT tactics. He moved onto being the senior instructor in the FTU before moving on to SIG SAUER Academy as an instructor. Todd holds several instructor level certifications in firearms and tactical instruction. Todd has a bachelors degree in criminal justice. He is also an active member of International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms instructors (IALEFI), and the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA).



Dave comes to the SIG SAUER Academy team with over 30 years of combined military and law enforcement experience. During his 20+ years of active-duty Marine Corps service, he was a Primary Marksmanship Instructor (PMI), Drill Instructor – Instructor, USMC Shooting Team member, and Inspector-Instructor Staff First Sergeant. Immediately after retirement, Dave joined the New Hampshire State Police attaining the rank of Sergeant. He served on the NHSP SWAT Team as their Sniper Team Leader and Sniper Instructor responding to many barricaded suspect calls, barricaded/hostage incidents, high-risk warrants, and VIP security details. He helped to develop and teach the Active Shooter Response training throughout New Hampshire. He has presented Police Marksman/Observer/Sniper classes through New Hampshire Tactical Officers Association (NHTOA) and is a Law Enforcement Advanced Development (L.E.A.D) Sniper Instructor.

Dave is a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and member of organizations such as NHTOA and American Sniper Association (ASA). Further, he is a TASER Master Instructor, New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council (NHPSTC) Firearms Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, and Defense Technologies (DefTec) munitions Instructor.



Cav currently teaches Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Precision Scoped Rifle, and Armorer courses, and also helps out with a handful of the Tactics courses offered at SIG SAUER Academy. He was an entry team leader for a regional SWAT Team that covers most of Southern New Hampshire and assisted the U.S. Secret Service in Counter Sniper Operations (Presidential Protection). Cav was a member of the training staff for SWAT, his police department, and the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Academy. He is also a certified instructor in defensive tactics, impact weapons, Taser, OC spray, and ground fighting. A graduate of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and was a team leader of the NU Mountain & Cold Weather Rescue Team. Cav trained for four years under U.S. Army Special Forces 10th Group cadre in mountain warfare, survival in all environments, rock and ice climbing, tracking, and high-angle rope rescue. He is also a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).



Jon comes to the Sig Sauer Academy with more than twelve years of experience in both military and law enforcement tactical operations. He first discovered his passion for teaching as a young Special Forces Medic with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). While assigned there, he participated in deployments to the Middle East with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force- Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP). During deployments, a large part of his duties included instructing foreign counterparts in tactical medicine, close quarters battle, and urban movement, in addition to leading them during operations.

At the conclusion of Jon’s military service, he pursued a career in law enforcement. He continued to advance his skill set while a Police Officer by receiving Instructor certifications in Firearms, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Active Shooter and First Responder. Additionally, he was selected to the regional SWAT team where he carried out the entry team and tactical medic responsibilities.

Most recently, Jon worked in training and product development for a company specializing exclusively in tactical medicine. Based on personal experience and identified needs, he developed solutions to challenges faced by military and law enforcement personnel specific to casualty treatment and extraction in the field setting. Understanding that the challenges faced by our service members are constantly evolving, Jon worked closely with the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to address current needs in the field. The products Jon personally developed in conjunction with his military counterparts are utilized today to improve readiness and casualty care around the world and here at home.



Dylan is the primary instructor and course program manager for all Academy introductory and intermediate core skill development courses. He is also a factory certified gunsmith and armorer for the SIG SAUER Custom Shop. After a short period of service in the US Air force Reserves, Dylan now is a part time police officer in New Hampshire where he performs regular patrol duties for the department. He is a master class competitive shooter and a member of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), US Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), and the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Senior Instructor

Dan Hunt

Dan has spent over 9 years in the US military with several recent trips overseas to combat theaters. He brings current marksmanship and tactical knowledge to the Sig Academy from real-world experiences. Dan has instructed numerous foreign militaries on marksmanship and small unit tactics. In addition to holding numerous military and civilian qualifications, he is a SIG SAUER Academy and MA state police-certified firearms instructor.

Senior Instructor

Eric Palmer

Eric brings over 25 years of combined military, private security, and law enforcement experience to the Sig Sauer Academy. He is a Desert Storm veteran who served five years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps Air Wing. In the civilian sector, Eric held a Supervisory appointment, providing dedicated private maritime security.

Most recently, Eric retired with 20 years of service in law enforcement as a Police Officer in the Patrol Division for a municipality in Massachusetts. During this time, Eric also served as a Field Training Officer, a decorated K-9 handler, and a member of a regional SWAT team, which serviced over 50 cities and towns in Massachusetts. His notable contributions on the SWAT team include exemplary duties as an entry team operator and tactical SWAT K-9 handler.

Senior Instructor

Andy Roy

Andy has over a decade of experience in the U.S. Army which includes several deployments overseas to support combat and training operations. He has performed as a senior instructor in numerous military marksmanship schools varying from long range target engagements to close quarter’s battle.

In addition to his numerous military certifications, Andy has been certified by the SIG SAUER Academy as a Master Rifle Instructor, Master Pistol Instructor, and armorer for the M400 and P320 weapon systems.

Andy’s experiences create a unique combination of diverse training knowledge and current real-world application of tactical principals that he shares with U.S. and foreign military units, armed professionals, and responsible citizens who choose to train at the SIG SAUER Academy.


Justin Christopher

Justin is a former police officer from Southwest Ohio. He is Tactical Arrest and Control instructor, an Edged Weapons instructor, a firearms instructor, and a certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.

Over the last two decades, Justin has traveled the world training various military and law enforcement organizations in cutting edge defensive and offensive tactics.

During this time Justin co-founded two training organizations. One of the premier civilian-based self-defense academy in the Midwest, Gracie Cincinnati, and a highly respected Law Enforcement and Military-focused training company, Combatives Development Group.

Justin’s unique mix of real-world experience and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life have made him a highly respected and sought after instructor. Justin is now sharing his experience and enthusiasm for teaching with the Sig Sauer Academy.


Colin Murphy

Colin comes to the SIG SAUER Academy after medically retiring from the US Army where he spent the majority of his career as a U.S. Army Green Beret assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). Colin was assigned to 3rd SFG as an 18 Echo Communications Sergeant and would later become an 18F Intelligence Sergeant. While assigned there, he participated in multiple deployments to the Middle East with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF). He also participated in two Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) deployments in support of U.S. State Department contingency operations in the EUCOM Area of Responsibility.

He has attended numerous pistol and rifle marksmanship schools and is passionate about sharing the knowledge he has gained over the years as a Special Operations Soldier.


Andy Delorey

Andrew has over 20 years of Police experience working in a large New Hampshire Municipal Police Agency. He is currently assigned to the Training Unit as a Training Specialist holding rifle and pistol instructor certifications from the State of New Hampshire Police Standards.

Throughout his career, he has been assigned to the Patrol Division, Community Policing, and Juvenile Detectives. Andrew spent 10 years in the Special Investigations Unit holding positions of Undercover Narcotics Officer, DEA Task-Force Officer, and Unit Investigator. He has remained an active member of the department’s SWAT Team for the past 14 years. He has been designated as Entry Team member, Sniper, and currently an Element Leader. Andrew is also a member of the Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) assisting Officers coping with response to traumatic incidents.

Andrew has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is a member of the NTOA.
