Jon comes to the Sig Sauer Academy with more than twelve years of experience in both military and law enforcement tactical operations. He first discovered his passion for teaching as a young Special Forces Medic with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). While assigned there, he participated in deployments to the Middle East with the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force- Arabian Peninsula (CJSOTF-AP). During deployments, a large part of his duties included instructing foreign counterparts in tactical medicine, close quarters battle, and urban movement, in addition to leading them during operations.
At the conclusion of Jon’s military service, he pursued a career in law enforcement. He continued to advance his skill set while a Police Officer by receiving Instructor certifications in Firearms, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Active Shooter and First Responder. Additionally, he was selected to the regional SWAT team where he carried out the entry team and tactical medic responsibilities.
Most recently, Jon worked in training and product development for a company specializing exclusively in tactical medicine. Based on personal experience and identified needs, he developed solutions to challenges faced by military and law enforcement personnel specific to casualty treatment and extraction in the field setting. Understanding that the challenges faced by our service members are constantly evolving, Jon worked closely with the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to address current needs in the field. The products Jon personally developed in conjunction with his military counterparts are utilized today to improve readiness and casualty care around the world and here at home.
